Kia is making a return to the small hatchback segment with the all-new K4 Hatchback, which joins the lineup as a 2026 model.

The Kia K4 Hatchback carries a starting price of $27,367, which is $800 more than the sedan—a reasonable difference compared to what is typically seen elsewhere in the industry. This is precisely why the Korean automaker’s hatchback now sits at the top of the list as one of the most affordable vehicles in its category.

A well-balanced lineup

With a starting price of $24,795 before freight and preparation charges, the K4 Hatchback has plenty to offer. It comes standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and adaptive cruise control, not to mention its attractive design. The LX trim starts at $30,416 including freight and preparation. At this price point, buyers get 17-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, and several additional technologies. The LX+ version follows at $31,916.

The EX Premium trim adds a more luxurious touch with heated rear seats and ventilated front seats, all for $33,816. Things get more serious under the hood with the GT-Line Turbo version, which is priced at $35,416. Finally, the GT-Line Turbo Limited sits at the top of the range with a price of $38,416. This version features an exclusive finish, stunning 18-inch wheels, a Harman Kardon audio system, and an impressive array of technologies.

Two powertrain options

Just like the sedan version, the Kia K4 Hatchback offers two mechanical options. The lineup starts with the familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a CVT transmission. The GT-Line versions, on the other hand, benefit from a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This small but potent unit delivers 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a noticeably more dynamic driving experience, especially when paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Korean automaker’s small hatchback hasn’t even reached the market yet and it’s already turning heads. Fortunately, the wait is almost over, as the first units are expected to arrive at dealerships in the coming weeks.
